Short Bio:
As a process engineer (Master 2015 at Vienna University of Technology) I always wanted to work in the renewable energy sector. From 2018 until 2025 I had the chance to be a part of the heat transformation in Vienna. As a project leader, I was in charge of the design, implementation and commissioning of large heat pumps. Those heat pumps use waste heat, for example the waste heat of a thermal bath, or of a data center, or of geothermal energy, to produce heat in the megawatt range on a higher temperature level. Heat, which is used for district heating, or large industrial buildings, like a hospital. Besides experiencing the heat transformation, I helped to integrate more and more women into our department. When I started in 2018, I was the only women in my department. When I was leaving Wien Energie in the summer of 2025, we were 50% women. Even though, my work at Wien Energie was very enriching, with many opportunities, in the summer of 2025 I decided to make a career change. I want to use my gained knowledge in renewable energy to work in the Global South, ideally in the development cooperation (UN, GIZ, SNV, Horizont3000). That is not a new interest of mine: I have built up the NGO Engineers Without Borders Austria (2013 -2016), where we organized for example lectures in Vienna for awareness building about the Global South, but also helped to implement a local tailoring training center in Togo. A just world has always been important for me, as well as learning from other cultures. Due to my job at Wien Energie and Engineers Without Borders, I am very well connected in the renewable energy sector in Austria. Now, I would like to expand my network around the world. I think, GWNET is a great initiative to connect and to learn from each other globally.
